Waste Management Services / Field guide 01
Does your collection schedule still fit the site?
The useful comparison is between what goes into each bin, when it is collected and what appears on the invoice. Start with one site and one ordinary trading week.

Three checks to make.
What to have handy
A recent invoice, the collection timetable and a note of which bins fill up first.
- Walk the collection route
Note the size, contents and fill level of each bin just before collection. A half-empty general waste bin on Monday and overflowing recycling on Friday point to two different changes.
- Match the invoice to the collection
Pick a billed lift and check the site, bin type and date against the schedule. Identify separate charges such as excess weight or an extra visit before comparing the price with a quote.
- Record what actually happened
For a missed lift, keep the scheduled date, when the bin was emptied and any follow-up charge. That gives the supplier a specific service issue to answer.
An example in practice
Where the detail matters.
A café adds weekend opening. Its weekly total still fits the bins, but cardboard builds up between Friday and Monday. Moving one collection could be a better question for the supplier than adding another bin.
A question to take to your supplier
Could we change the recycling collection day, and what would that do to the total monthly charge?View the collection schedule → Request a callback →
